Caring for gold-plated jewelry in the tropics
Heat, humidity and sea air are hard on plating. A five-minute routine that keeps your KILAU and MEDINI pieces bright.

Bali's humidity is hard on jewelry.
KILAU and MEDINI pieces are gold-plated: a thin layer of gold over a base metal. Plating looks beautiful, but it wears with friction, sweat, salt water and chemicals — and in the tropics you meet all four every day.
The routine
- Put your jewelry on last — after perfume, sunscreen and lotion.
- Take it off before swimming, showering or exercising.
- Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after every wear.
- Store each piece dry in its pouch, away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Pearls need extra care
Pearls are soft and porous. Wipe them with a dry cloth only, and keep them away from perfume, hairspray and water.
